Suzanne Pretty, Lined Up and Ready

This exhibit was juried by Barbara Herbster, a well-known professional artist, weaver and teacher.

TWiNE, one of several regional tapestry weavers' groups in the United States and Canada, was established in 1991 to support contemporary tapestry artists, and to preserve and promote the ancient art of handwoven tapestry.

Julia Mitchell, Blue Grasses

TWiNE’s forty-five members have trained in tapestry and weaving techniques around the country and around the world, from New England to New Mexico, Israel to Mexico, with experience ranging from full-time professional artists to fairly casual weavers, including , textile professionals and gallery owners.

Don Burns, Monhegan

In addition to showing members’ work, TWINE also focuses on educating the public about contemporary tapestry design and technique.

Membership is not limited to residents of New England and currently includes members from every New England state, as well as New York, Colorado and Canada.

Overlapping the TWiNE exhibit is Convergence, the biannual conference of the Handweavers Guild of America (HGA).
