WHAT IS TAPESTRY?

Tapestry is an ancient hand weaving technique using discontinuous wefts. Small areas are woven using different colors to make images or patterns, as in the Unicorn Tapestries, Navajo rugs or Turkish kilim rugs. Contemporary tapestry weavers use the same time consuming techniques in their work.

About TWiNE

TWiNE was formed in 1991 to support contemporary tapestry artists, and to preserve and promote the ancient art of tapestry. We strive to accomplish this through member exhibitions, retreats and workshops. Membership is open to tapestry weavers of all levels of experience in New England.
