October Happenings

Cilla Alden's new tapestry, "Spirit Woman" (26 x 18") was selected for the statewide ART in ME 2017 exhibit, hosted by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, Oct 14 - Nov 12. 

The juror was Chris Crossman, former director of the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, ME. 

The tapestry is woven on a wool warp with silk yarns, is full of slits, and hangs out from the wall on a curved brass hanger.

Barbara Burns will be teaching 3 tapestry classes in the area:

Halcyon Yarn in Bath, ME Jan. 26-28, 2018  
Vavstuga Weaving School in Shelburne Falls, MA. June 6-8, 2018

Minna Rothman's tapestry "Wind Doesn't Know for Borders," is included in two exhibitions:   EXCELLENCE in FIBERS VI, presented virtually by Fiber Art Network, at New Bedford Art Museum . Dec 1, 2020 - March 28, 2021.  VARIATIONS: presented by Marblehead Arts Association , The Hooper Mansion, 8 Hooper st, Marblehead, MA 01945  In person, January 30 - March 14, 2021.  This same tapestry has received an Excellence Award in the forthcoming show, "Symbiosis and Coexistence." From Lausanne to Beijing International Fiber Art Biennale XI, Beijing, China. This year the exhibit is virtual, so instead of traveling all the way to China, we can see it right here .  Another tapestry by Minna Rothman," Migration 2015: Integration, is also included, as are tapestries by other TWiNE members.   

Exploring the World of Fibers at Lexarts

Celebrating the recent transformation of the LexArt Weavers Guild into the Weaving and Fiber Arts Guild, Lexington Arts and Crafts Society is hosting a juried exhibition of New England fiber artists.  Exploring the World of Fibers , January 8 - 30, 2022.  Opening reception January 9, 2-4 pm  with a lecture by Julia Mitchell.  Hours: Tuesday- Friday 11-5, Saturday & Sunday 10-5.  Closed Mondays.   Three members of Tapestry Weavers in New England were selected for the exhibition.  ------------------------------------------------------------- Julia Mitchell, Ames Pond: Winter  Priscilla Alden, Journey II Minna Rothman, Deeper Roots
