As I will be unable to attend the demo and gallery talk, I decided to see the exhibit and attend the opening reception on Friday, July 5 instead. Luckily for me, my husband has a small plane (a VERY small plane, just 2 seats), and he loves to fly, so instead of a 5 hour drive, it was a 1 hour flight.

I'm not a huge fan of flying, but this made it possible as a day trip. As we are in the middle of a heat wave, it was a relief to discover another benefit of flying: it's a lot cooler up there. It went from 87 on the ground to 57 at 8,700 feet. Whew. I love to take pictures from the air, the views are great, and it distracts me from realizing that we are WAY up there.......
On the way home, there were storm clouds off to the west, but we were flying south, so it was not  a problem, and made for some gorgeous photo ops.

The show is wonderful, with a wide diversity of styles. I hope any of you who are close enough will make the effort to visit. Not only can you see these beautiful tapestries, but they are for sale, so you can take one home with you.
